  • Where did that snow come from!

    Tue 03 Feb 2015

    Unexpected snow opportunity!

Mr. Hardy's usually reliable weather forecasting was caught on the hop today! A good 7 cm of snow fell overnight which meant we had an unexpected chance to go out and have some snow fun. Have a look at the pictures...by the end of the school day it had all disappeared.

  • Netball friendly versus Awbridge 22/1/15

    Thu 22 Jan 2015
On a bitterly cold evening both teams played exceptionally well! There were two keenly fought games - a Year 3/4 team and a Year 5/6 team. It was much closer this time than when we last played Awbridge - our Year 5/6 team winning 4-3, with the Awbridge Year 3/4 victorious at 3-1. There were many parents supporting both teams - it was great to have such a good turn out. Well done to all the players from both schools who made it a really exciting tournament to watch!
  • Nativity 2014 - Otters & Squirrels classes

    Fri 12 Dec 2014

We hope that you were able to come along to this year's production. We had 45 actors all playing their part. Dylan, Amelia and jack played the roles of Mr. Hardy, Mrs. Macey and Mr. Williams a bit too well! It was a very funny production with lots of great humour and super singing. Well done to everyone involved.

  • Archie Dobson's War by Badgers class

    Mon 08 Dec 2014

Badgers & Foxes performed a World War 1 play based on the experience of a young Archie Dobson (aged 10). Badgers class provided the acting talent, and Foxes class supported them brilliantly with their singing. Mrs. Macey put on a great production - the audience was gripped by the emotions of the performance, it swung from sadness as Archie's cousin was killed in the trenches to elation at the news his father had survived the gruelling conflict. The children performed magnificently, and handkerchiefs were needed at the end as the death toll was read out and poppies placed at the feet of the children standing in the shape of a cross. It included mention of the 13 men from the village of Broughton who died in the Great War.

  • BPS invaded by super-heroes!

    Fri 14 Nov 2014

What a magnificent effort everyone made to bring a smile to everyone's faces today! The theme was super-hero, but it had to be how you saw yourself and what amazing powers you have! There were some incredibly creative ideas. We raised £176 which we will split between Children in Need and the Broughton Bikers for Help the Heroes. Take a look at some of the costumes and the playground fun activities which Badgers class designed and Mrs. Macey translated into a fun morning of activities.

  • Otters and Foxes go on a fruit hunt!

    Thu 04 Sep 2014

Foxes and Otters went for a walk round the village, picking fruit from pre-arranged gardens and also from the local hedgerows. When back at school, they set about making a mixed fruit crumble. They had to follow the recipe carefully, peeling their fruit and weighing out the ingredients. Our next big project is for a pupil kitchen, but in the interim the crumbles went away to be cooked, then the children could taste "the fruit of their labours!"

Here is a description of their outing by Max in Foxes:

    Our Fruit Hunt

On Thursday the fourth of September 2014, Foxes and Otters from Broughton Primary School went on a fruit hunt. We left school and headed down Dixon’s Lane. The day was warm with a little breeze in the air.

Eventually, the crowd of fifty seven came to the end of Dixon’s Lane where Ella’s house stood. We were told to stay in line while the plastic bags were being handed out by the adults. When that had been done, Ella’s grandma opened the gate and three quarters of us headed in. The others stayed and picked raspberries.

After about five minutes we lined up in our fours and continued down Dixon’s Lane. We came to a river at the end. I was so tempted to dip my feet in! We walked along the path on the left of the river and across the bridge and onto the Clarendon Way where we picked blackberries. We turned off down Rectory Lane and walked across the bridge. On the Clarendon Way Freddie spotted a green shield bug on Luke’s collar. He called it Crumble.

On Rectory Lane, just before the hill, we stopped at another garden that we were allowed to pick fruit from. We picked raspberries, plums and apples. Then we went in groups and picked pears. Then we went up Plough Gardens and into the park. We picked apples in the orchard and headed back to school.

    By Max in Foxes.

A few pictures show how well the whole day went!

  • Year 3/4 Tag Rugby Tournament

    Thu 01 May 2014

    Broughton does it again!

Our team of amazing children lifted the trophy - undefeated - after storming through the fixture list. In a tough competition including all Andover rural and town schools, once again we showed that we can compete with the bigger schools and be proud of our achievements.

Well done to George who was also named as Outstanding Player in the age group.

  • World Penguin Day

    Fri 25 Apr 2014

Broughton turns black and white for World Penguin Day!

Everything turned black and white for World Pengun day with the whole school spending time learning about the penguin and helping raise money for our 2 charities. Chocolate dipped bananas became penguins, wool pom poms emerged as bay penguin chicks, Squirrels learnt a penguin song and everyone spent time researching about lifestyles, habitats and different breeds. Well done to everyone for helping us to raise over £70!
