Our First Weeks in Squirrels Class
We have been very excited to welcome and settle our new Squirrels children. For the first week the children stayed until lunchtime. They have been getting used to the morning routines, organising their own belongings and getting to know the Golden Rules. We have had very successful lunches in the hall with most children trying new foods and enjoying their pudding. The children have particularly enjoyed riding the scooters, visiting the pond and making new friends.
Our Second week in Squirrels has has been a week of firsts! We’ve had our first phonics lessons and first sounds which we are learning to read and write throughout our play. We enjoyed our first outdoor PE lesson and Gymnastics indoor with Kayleigh from Lions in the community. The merit chart has been up and running all week and the children love the positive praise. We have been making hand prints to add to our class charter and the first right we are exploring is the right to be safe in school. Lots of children have been spreading the sunshine in Squirrels and it was very hard to choose one when they are all so kind and caring to each other. The children have been so happy coming into school and staying for a whole day. We are incredibly proud of them for their ability to face new challenges and adapt to new situations so easily. Well done Squirrels, you’ve conquered your first full week of school.
