Squirrels
In Maths, the children in Squirrels class have been finding 1 less and 1 more in our continuous provision and with concrete resources. Some children have begun recording their work with pictures and using numerals they know. We’ve also been sorting shapes and are beginning to recognise their properties. They were particularly excited about creating repeating patterns. Throughout the term they have enjoyed creating repeated patterns, especially with wrapping paper.
Look at the pictures below for some examples of their brilliant Maths.
Otters
Otters class have been using a variety of approaches to solve their Maths this term. They have used objects, pictures and dienes to solve simple addition and subtraction questions. They then moved onto showing multiplication and division facts using counters.
Here are some examples of their fabulous Maths work:
Foxes
The children in Foxes class have been working hard to become confident in the four operations since the start of the year. They have used lots of approaches, both practical and with pictures. They particularly liked learning about weight.
Look below at some of the Maths work that the children have been up to:
Badgers
In our Maths learning, the children have been revising the four operations, becoming confident with angles and have been problem solving with measurement. For this, they have had to use the skill of multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, and 1,000 to convert between different as well as convert between metric and imperial units. This allowed the children to compare measurements of different types and apply their maths learning to a real-life context.
