  • Sainsburys School Games - Gold Award

    Fri 30 Jun 2017

Sainsburys School Games – Gold Award!

We are delighted to announce that this year we have been awarded the gold standard for our sporting provision at Broughton School. There are many reasons that we achieved this: firstly, our sports leaders have organised a range of extra activities including running a club and writing termly sports reports. Secondly, we have participated in a wide range of sporting activities across the age groups and achieved excellent results in cluster and county competitions. Finally, we have been driven and organised by Miss Morris, assisted by the wider staff and Mrs Devereux to deliver excellent P.E provision. Well done staff and children!

We raised lots of money from our tea with friends and we spent it on the "Reptile Man". The first thing we held was the bearded dragon, she was called Princess Leia. Next we held the snakes, they were very long and he kissed them.  One was orange and the other one was green.  Up next was a turtle and a giant tortoise.  Last was a boa-constrictor it was enormous.
  • Sports Day

    Thu 15 Jun 2017

The sun shone and our children did too! It was fantastic to see everyone trying so hard and how wonderful that so many parents and family members came to support. We would like to thank all the grown-ups who helped to organise the event. We are very lucky to have such supportive and committed friends of the school.

  • Careers Day

    Thu 08 Jun 2017

On Tuesday the children in year 4,5 and 6 took part in a careers day. We were very fortunate over 25 parents and friends of the school gave up their time to come and talk to the children about their jobs. The children had a brilliant day and were thoroughly enthused by the conversations that they had. We really feel that there are many benefits from children being better informed about the wealth of job opportunities that are open to them in the future and that days such as this help them to put the purpose of their education into greater perspective.

  • Squirrels trip to Anton Lakes

    Mon 22 May 2017
On Monday 25th May we went to Anton Lakes to explore the water life. We were met by Boycie and Charlotte who explained to the children what we were going to do and how to be safe near the water. The children were split into groups of 3, one was using the net to catch insects and the other two were at the tray sorting the pond life into groups. The children would swap around and have many goes searching in the lakes. Then the children had an opportunity to draw the creatures they had found. Finally Charlotte and Boycie went through the insects with a special camera which was projected on to the screen. We saw a snails heart beat! We looked closely at a dragon fly and discovered how they can swim so well.
The children were extremely well behaved, loved learning outside and particularly enjoyed the hands on activities provided by the education team.
A wonderful afternoon in the sun shine
  • Badgers trip to Kidania

    Thu 18 May 2017

Badgers class trip to Kidzania, London allowed the children to undertake a variety of experiences in a scaled down city, as described below:

As in the real world, children perform "jobs" and are either paid for their work (as a fireman, doctor, police officer, journalist, shopkeeper, etc.) or pay to shop or to be entertained. The indoor theme park is a city built to scale for children, complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles, a functioning economy, and recognisable destinations in the form of "establishments" sponsored and branded by leading multi-national and local brands.
