We are committed to engaging openly and constructively with our parents and are keen to hear parents' views on how we are doing and what we can do to improve the education we are providing for all our children. To this end, we have developed a Parent Communication policy which sets out the methods of communication available to parents for contacting the school and our expectations of parents, staff and pupils when engaging with the school.
As part of our last OFSTED inspection, we were delighted that so many parents provided input to the 'Parent View' survey, which formed an important part of the inspectors' work and which had a bearing on their overall judgement.
The full results of the parent view survey are available on the OFSTED parent view website.
We were pleased to see that the favourable results maintained those that we had gathered earlier in 2022, when completing our own parent questionnaire. This contained many positive responses, with 95% of the total responses being positive - that is, either in 'strong agreement' or 'agreement' with the statements made.
At Broughton, 100% of respondents believe their child to be safe at school and 100% strongly agreed or agreed that their child is happy at school. There was also strong agreement - 97% - that the children have access to a wide range of subjects in the school curriculum. The same proportion felt their children have access to a wide range of clubs and activities.
We value and appreciate this feedback, and in particular because parent opinion is a vital element in making sure we are addressing the right issues and responding to any concerns in an effective way.
Since conducting the parent survey, we have sought to stay in touch with parents on a more regular basis. We do this mainly though our school newsletter, which we issue one or two times per term. It contains updates on developments in school and seeks to respond to feedback we receive through regular interaction, or via our Parent Governors, so that we discuss the issues that matter to parents and children. We also provide short-form guidance to accompany our school policies, in key areas such as safeguarding and attendance.
